200 Meals Distributed by Interfaith Group to Refugees in Indianapolis

On October 1,  200 meals were delivered to refugees and immigrants on the west side of Indianapolis by a team made up of Christians and Muslims.    Students from Saudi Arabia, who are studying at IUPUI, contacted Migros Aid Indy to see if help could be given to identify people in need of a meal.     The group of students prepared the meals in advance as a part of Ashura, a day within Islam to honor and remember Husayn Ibn Ali, the grandson of Muhammad.

IUPUI student, Basim Alfuhidah,  organized the meals to be prepared and said, “I am very happy to meet so many people from around the world and to work together to feed 200 people.”

This interfaith-compassion project brought together a diverse group of people and brought many smiles to the refugee, immigrant community.
